Update 2 of 3: Hello Our Old Friend

Mr. Change, welcome back.

Well...It was nice while it lasted. You see. We kinda created a monster in that we have not been the best about getting Stella to sleep in her crib. So while it would be easier not to fight this minuscule bad habit, we know that it does have to be done. Turns out Stella was enjoying the lack of change also, cause she ain't all that happy about her crib. We hung a new mobile over the crib for her to stare at and got one of those video monitors so we can watch her as she sleeps but both those things haven't helped. We still always go into the room to check on her and she could care less about the flying circus over her bed. I knew it was bad when a friend of mine said I was starting to look old cause my eyes were so puffy. Belinda is pushing an anti aging cream for me. I'm refusing.

On top of this it was Fiesta week.

Now, while Belinda enjoys a good fiesta party I myself am a fiesta scrooge. I really don't see the point to waiting in line for a taco that cost five bucks and it has less meat than a taco from Taco Cabana. Down where I work people LOVE fiesta. All the woman, and some men, bring out their home made sashes filled with pins they have collected from different fiesta dignitaries. All you hear outside my office is a constant jingle from people walking by and fingers soaking up a funnel cake. People check-in in the morning and creep out for lunch never really returning to get work done.

Because of the relaxed atmosphere at work Belinda and I decided to meet for lunch and she was to bring Stella downtown so some of the folks could meet her. It was also a reason Belinda needed to put Stella's little Mexican dress on that her grandma and grandpa bought for her on their trip to Mexico.

Stella was greeted by a warm group of friends all wanting to see her. As much as she enjoys to stare at people, she apparently does not like to be stared at. Once they rolled her up in her stroller everyone crowded around to see her and she just let out a cry. Once she was pulled out of the car seat she was much better. We went to eat at a Mi Terra in market square and had a great time. At one point I took Stella to walk around cause she was getting a little fussy. One of the waitresses came up to us and told me that Stella was a cutey. I made her touch Stella to cure any ojo and then asked if they were excepting applications. She asked if it was for myself and I told her no. I was thinking that Stella in her little Mexican dress could get a gig passing out tortillas or something. She laughed and walked away, but little did she know I was serious.

We didn't participate in any other fiesta activities except for watching the parade on television. We hope that by next year Stella is old enough to go to some of the events. OK, Belinda is looking forward to that, not me.

Aside from that we had breakfast with some old friends of mine from high school. As I sat there holding my daughter while chatting with friends who I knew as a child I thought about how I had always thought about this phase in my life, but never truly visualised it. Here I was hanging out with friends from when I was a kid but now we each had our own kids. Talk about feeling old. The conversations use to be about going out and this time it surrounded the topic of sleep patterns and tummy time.
No wonder single people don't like to hang out with us.
