Two Weeks Notice

I promised Belinda I would not discuss the subject matter I wanted to discuss even though as I explained to her it would be remaining true to the purpose of the blog which was to journal our experience of welcoming Stella into the world. And I will keep my word about not discussing the issue, I just wanted to document it so I can remember to tell Stella when she is old enough. Stella, remember to ask me about the time your mom wanted to know about the potatoes in the oven.

I will say this, if I go missing because I have said to much already-look to Belinda first. (Kidding babe!)

There is something else though that I can share with everyone. Belinda officially gave her employer, Stella, two weeks notice of her intent to seek other employment. Translation: Belinda goes back to work in two weeks. (Yay!)

Part of move came when Belinda received an email from her work stating there was a count down to her return. I told Belinda, "hey you should be flattered that there is a count down to your return instead of being that person who you count the days until they quit." Obviously, Belinda is sad to leave her new job title of "stay at home mommy" behind but she understands the only part she is losing is the "stay at home" part and not the "mommy" part. She has been there to see all of Stella's firsts and worries that she won't be the first to see them now. In an effort to make the transition easier for her I offered to wire the home with closer circuit television cameras with a live feed so she can access at any moment video of the entire house and see what is going on at home. As soon as I said that out loud I realized how creepy that was and offered to get a new video camera for her mom to document everything that she may miss while at work. I'm sure this is a much better option for everyone.

Stella has taken the news in stride. She initially stated two weeks was not necessary and that Belinda was fired. If you have seen the photos of Stella you know she has some Donald Trump hair going on so she channeled his persona and gave her a short flick of the rest as she said it. And while I heard "your fired" all Belinda heard was, "ugh!" Once Stella cooled down and thought it through she decided to allow Belinda to keep her position until Grandma arrived. That also probably had something to do with the grunt she had just made which was followed by a curious smell and then a diaper change.

I knew it was time for Belinda to head back to work after one night I made it to bed late and she was already asleep. Once I got into bed I felt her come over and give me what I thought was going to be a goodnight hug. She was fast asleep and after she reached over and put her arm around me she started to pat me in the way she pats Stella when she is trying to put her to sleep. I could not stop laughing and she insists she remembers nothing of the sort.

I figured the only step from here was welcoming me home with a, "How was your day at work (In that way you almost sing all your words and stretch out the last one in the sentence when you speak to a baby.).........How was it? Was it Good? Was it Good? Yes it was! Yes it was!"

Just in case, here is a photo I request you use for the missing person flier. Excuse the funny grin, it's just the most recent photo taken of me.
