The Little Scooter that Did

The trip back from Corpus was actually a good one. Fifteen minutes into the drive home Stella was out. Thirty minutes into the drive Belinda was out also. She insists it was only for twenty minutes, but I know it was longer than that. As I chauffeured the two of them back to San Antonio without anyone to talk to I simply gazed at all the land. I can tell you that Texas has a lot of dead trees right now. I can also tell you that there is a random BBQ place called Van's in the middle of no where that is suppose to have good food, but I knew taking a detour on the trip would have been a gamble. Maybe when Stella gets older.

I do have to tell you about the most interesting thing I saw while driving. Of course, Belinda was asleep so she can't validate my sighting. Be off in the distant approaching me on I-35 heading to Corpus was this bright red motorcycle. Or at least I thought it was a motorcycle. The thing about it was that even though it was far away I could see something sticking up and over the top of the bike. It looked like an antenna. As it got closer I kept an eye on it just because I could not figure out what a bike would need a big antenna for. Maybe it was one of those people who have those special license plates that say, "Radio Operator" that for the life I have no idea why they get special plates. Maybe they were storm hunters running from a tornado and I was heading in the wrong direction. In either case we were not stopping til we got home.

As the bike got close I could see that in fact it was not a bike but a scooter. Just as fast as I realized it was a scooter it had passed.

"Did I just see that" I said out loud to myself. I looked into the rear view mirror and squinted to see if what I saw was real or just my imagination. Did one of life's opportunity to teach Stella a valuable lesson pass and no one was awake to see it but me. Yup, it sure did.

That scooter was being driven by a person with one leg and the alleged antenna that I saw was in fact the drivers crutch. He or She had the bottom of the crutch on the floor of the scooter and they were holding the rest of it up against their body.

One day Stella is going to come to me and tell me she cant do something and rather than telling her that story about that little ole ant with the rubber tree plant I'm going to give her the song of the little red scooter with the one legged person and their crutch. I'll still tell Stella about the little engine that could. But she needs know about the little scooter that DID.

Here is a new photo of feeding time. Little blury but I liked it.

Hope everyone is well.
