Public Petition

From the day we learned about the baby we would be blessed with I have come to this church weekly to light a candle. I would take my candle and place it in a specific place and then return the next week and light my new candle with the flame of the prior candle. It was my prayer that a constant light would shine guiding the arrival of my child. I would pray my child would remain safe in my wife's womb and that my wife would remain safe for that week also. I would also give thanks for the prior week and its blessings.

Today I lit two candles from the same flame.

I lit one for my daughter who is to arrive tomorrow. I prayed that she arrive safely and healthy and full of life. And I promised as I did every week that if I would be blessed with a child I would raise it in the ways of the church and in the way I was raised to believe that we will have life everlasting.

I lit a second candle today for my wife. That she who has born the care of our child for the last nine months be cared for tomorrow as she has cared for Stella. That she remain in God's care as she under takes the blessing and burden of giving birth.

I ask everyone to keep the two women of my life in your prayers also.

And to those who have gone before us, I ask for your prayers from afar as well.
